York, England

We arrived in York on the afternoon of Thanksgiving day, not expecting to see too much, but ended up having too much to see. The old city walls still run around and through the city of York and parts of the the walls are used for pedestrians to move around the town. While driving around trying to find our B&B, we ended up going through gates in the wall several times. That evening we walked towards downtown to find a place to eat and almost ran into the York Minster, lit up with purple and white snowflake-shaped lights for Christmas. We had our Thanksgiving dinner at an American Southwest-style restaurant and spent the rest of the evening walking around the shops. The next morning we toured the York Minster. The Minster is the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. Several of these pictures were taken on our climb to the top of the Minster - 275 steps each way. There was also a park that we walked through to get from our B&B to the Minster. The pictures of ruins were taken in this park.
